Jim and Pam
It's hard not to fall victim to the love for Jim and Pam's relationship. The infamous couple who work at Dunder Mifflin, the paper company in the show The Office, represent two coworkers who become best friends while both avoiding the fact that they obviously have feelings for each other. This changes when Pam's fiance, Roy, finally picks a wedding date and the engagement between the two becomes incredibly more real. Jim finally finds the nerve to tell Pam how he feels but it all feels too late. Jim leaves to work at a new office and Pam calls off the wedding. Eventually Jim's office is merged together with his old one, where Pam works and the two start to rekindle their friendship. Although Jim has a girlfriend at this point, he clearly still has feelings for Pam. Long story short after a long and painful wait the two finally get together and eventually get married. Although it's a story of fake love it's a bit more realistic than what is normally portrayed between two people on television. It shows the hard times, the good times, the fights, and the tears. It seems realistic although it gives the impression that who you like will eventually fall in love with you given enough time. While this might be true in the show it's discussed in the reading that it's very unlikely that two bestfriends end up together. One almost always likes the other more and one often feels guilt because they're aware of these feelings but don't know how to address them without ruining the friendship. The interesting part about this relationship though is that it doesn't try to push the "perfect message" as discussed in The Rise of the Lavish Wedding. It's much more realatable and imperfect although, that just turns around to make it seem even more perfect, because the couple is able to tackle any situation that pushes the limits for them. So all in all it may not be the most realistic relationship but its definitely entertaining and alluring.
